About Mutani's SMS Services Portfolio

  • A01 - What SMS services are currently available to Mutani's customers?

    There are currently 2 types of services in Mutani’s services portfolio. These are:

    • SMS Broadcast Platform service
    • SMS API Integration Service

  • A02 - What is the SMS Broadcast Platform?

    SMS Broadcast is Mutani’s Bulk SMS and Transactional SMS messaging platform where you can create a free account, purchase SMS credits, and conveniently send text messages to multiple mobile phone users

  • A03 - Why use SMS Broadcast

    A – Beside our unbeatable prices, direct connectivity with Telco’s, reliability, and real time monitoring and analytics, all our customers are assigned a dedicated Customer Success Manager. SMS Broadcast also boast of customer portals, including, End User, Corporate Portal Manager (CPM), and Reseller portals. 


    In addition, the SMS Broadcast platform is designed with tailor-made SMS-enabled business solutions in mind. This means, if you are a hotelier, school administrator, a transport operator, a health-care provider or a financial services firm to send either promotional or transactional messages to multiple mobile phone numbers, there is a special solution for you – we call these specially designed solutions the Mutani’s SMS-enabled business solution modules. 


    When you create an account as an end user you are automatically granted access to our  default SMS module: the Brand Awareness Manager, also called BAM. Access to the remaining customer modules is made by request only. Contact our sales team at sales@mutanitechnologies.com to add an SMS module to your account.



  • A04 – What are some of the SMS-enabled business solutions currently enabled in SMS Broadcast platform?

    Our customers can currently enjoy 2 range of SMS-enabled business solutions. These are:

    • The Order Manager

    • Passenger Alert Service (PAS)

  • A05 – What is the SMS API Integration service?

    Mutani’s SMS API integration capability allows us to seamlessly integrate our customer’s existing systems with Mutani’s SMS Broadcast platform. What this means is that for customers who do not wish to replace their existing systems, but still want to be able to send SMS messages to their own customers and users, they can do so by seamlessly integrating their systems with Mutani’s SMS Broadcast platform.

  • A06 – Why use Mutani’s SMS API Integration service?

    SMS integration is simple and easy to integrate. Depending on the size and complexity of our customer’s existing systems, Mutani’s technical team will typically have an SMS integration completed between 1-2 weeks.


SMS Broadcast Costs

  • B01 - How much does it cost to send an SMS?

    The cost of sending an SMS can be as low as GHS 0.03 per SMS message depending on type of account you wish to setup – that is, whether a corporate account or standard account. Refer to our SMS Costs and Pricing page on our website for an up-to-date costs and prices. To receive a quotation, please write to our sales team at sales@mutanitechnologies.com or initiate a web chat with our sales support team. 

  • B02 - How do I purchse SMS credits?

    SMS Broadcast works on both prepaid and post-paid basis. As a pre-paid customer, you can automatically top-up your account directly in the SMS Broadcast platform via Mobile Money (MoMo).


    If you are a post-paid customer, you will be invoiced at the end of each month for the SMS credit that you have used between the start of the month and the end of the month.

  • B03 - I am an existing account holder. How do I top-up my SMS credit balance?

     To top-up your SMS credit balance via Mobile Money, following the steps below:


    • Click on the ‘Top Up’ button at the top left of the any page in SMS Broadcast platform. You will be redirected to the Mobile Money (MoMo) page
    • Enter your number to receive an OTP
    • Verify OTP
    • Choose your network
    • Enter amount you wish to purchase
    • Click on pay
    • Approve the payment. 
    • Refresh your page. You will see that your SMS credit balance – at the top left of the page - is automatically update to reflect how much SMS credit you have purchased.

    If you need additional support during or after the top-up processes, please use our help centre on our website or initiate a web chat with our account management support team.


  • B04 - Are there any other costs involved when using SMS Broadcast?

    No, there are none. 


    There is no sign-on fee and no fixed monthly payments. You simply pay for what you use via our pre-paid and post-paid purchase models. If you are a ‘Standard SMS Broadcast Account’ holder, you are more likely to purchase credit using a prepaid payment model. If you are an ‘Corporate SMS Broadcast Account’ holder, we will work with you to choose the most suitable payment model – prepaid or post-paid model.


  • B05 - Who pays for any incoming SMS messages (i.e. replies to my messages)?

    The costs of all replies to your SMS messages from a recipient are borne by the receipt. You do not pay for the replies to your Bulk SMS messages. The recipient who sends the reply will be charged a standard SMS message cost on a local network.

  • B06 - Do SMS Broadcast credits expire?

    No, they do not. 


    The SMS credit you purchase never expire. This means that your credits will be available in your SMS Broadcast account for as long as you need them.


  • B07 - Do I get an invoice?

    Yes, you do.


    We provide invoices for all your SMS credit purchases. The system reports presents an invoice generation function which allows users to generate and download invoices. 


  • B08 - Who pays for failed messages?

    You, the account holder.


    As the SMS Broadcast account holder, you pay for every message you send to your contacts, whether the message was delivered successfully or it failed. You are charged when your messages fail because we are charged by the Telcos for every message submitted, whether successfully or failed.


    It is essential that you double check to make sure that the numbers you load onto your contact list are accurate. 


  • B09 - Does your SMS Broadcast platform have a Mobile App version?

    Not yet. 


    We are currently developing our Mobile App and will notify all our customers when we go live with the App.


Registration & Account Management

  • C01 - How do I start sending SMS messages?

    How you send SMS messages depends on which SMS service and or solutions are you are signed on to. If you are using one of our specially designed solutions such as the Brand Awareness Manager, Order Manager or Passenger Alert Service, you can only send SMS messages whiles you are login to SMS Broadcast. If you do not already have an account, begin by registering your details to create an SMS Broadcast account or contact our sales team at sales@mutanitechnologies.com to sign-up for the Passenger Alert Service or the Order Manager.



    However, if you are signed onto our SMS API integration services, there is no need to be login to SMS Broadcast platform. Messages are automatically issued to your customers whenever an action is triggered by your customers, such as, when they deposit funds in their bank account or when they attempt to login to their accounts and are automatically issued an OTP security code via SMS. To sign-up for one of our SMS API Integration services, please contact our sales team at sales@mutanitechnologies.com


  • C02 - What is the sector-focused SMS Module?

    These are modules created to meet specific sector requirements. For example, if you operate in the coaches & buses sector and you want to improve the travel experience for travellers, you might want to sign up to our ‘Passenger Alert Service’ module, or if you are restaurant or take-away food services provider, you might want to sign up to our Order Manager solution.   • C03 - What is the Brand Awareness Manager(BAM)?

    BAM is the module most of our Standard SMS Broadcast account holders use. It is non-sector-focused module. This means you can send bulk SMS messages without targeting any specific sector.

  • C04- Will I have a dedicated SMS Broadcast Account Manager?

    Yes, you will.


    Every SMS Broadcast account holder is assigned a dedicated Account and Customer Success Manager. To find your SMS Broadcast Account & Success Manager is, login to your SMS Broadcast account and navigate to ‘My profile’. Click on ‘My Account Manager Details’ to reveal the name and contact details of your Account & Customer Success Manager.


  • C05 - What happens once I’ve registered to create my SMS Broadcast account?

    Once you’ve registered and created your account, you will be automatically logged on to the platform. This means you can start sending SMS messages immediately by purchasing SMS credits. Your first 5 SMS messages are free courtesy of the SMS Broadcast team.

  • C06 - Why haven’t I received my activation email?

    A – This may be due to you entering an incorrect email address during registration or perhaps, there is a network delay. Please check the details you registered with and your broadband connection. 


    If you still haven’t received your confirmation email, please contact our SMS Broadcast Support team at support@mutanitechnologies.com. Please include the details you registered with, including your name, username, email address and mobile number.

  • C07 - I’ve lost my password and/or cannot remember my username. How can I log in?

     Easy. 


    If you have lost your password, simply click on “forgot password” on the login page and enter your email address. You will receive a password reset email from ‘Mutani SMS Broadcast’ with the subject-line ‘Reset Password’. In the email, there will be a ‘Reset Password’ button – click on this to reset your password.


    If you cannot remember your username, simply click on “recover username” on the login page and enter your email address. You will receive a username reminder email from ‘Mutani SMS Broadcast’ with the subject-line ‘Your username’. In the email will be your recovered username.


  • C09 - How do I change/update my password?

    To change your password login to your SMS Broadcast account. Click on ‘My Account’ to go into your SMS Broadcast user profile page. Click on ‘Password’ to update your password.

  • C10 - Can I change/update my username?

    No, you cannot.


    You can however update other personal details by clicking logging into your SMS Broadcast account and clicking on ‘My Account’ to go into your SMS Broadcast user profile page. Type over any of the details to update it. 


  • C11 - Can SMS Broadcast notify me when my SMS credits are low?

    Yes, it can.


    Choose at which SMS credit threshold/level you want a notification to be sent. You can choose to receive the notification via email, SMS or both.

  • C12 - Why does SMS Broadcast need my mobile phone number?

    We need your mobile number in order to send you an activation code. You will need this activation code in order to receive your 5 free SMS credits. You may use the 5 free SMS credits however you like, however, we recommend that you these free credits for testing our platform. In addition, we also need your mobile phone number because we may need to contact you for Support reasons, for example, if you are running low on SMS credits and we need to send you a reminder to top-up credit.

Sending SMS Messages

  • D01 - How long does it take before my SMS messages are delivered?

    Typically, your will messages are delivered to the intended mobile number within 5 seconds. There may be instances where the delivery time could take longer – up to x minutes – depending on the network routing of SMS messages, the number of SMS messages sent in a batch, or other factors that may be beyond the control of the SMS Broadcast platform. For information on delivery speed for large volumes, please get in touch with our SMS Support team.

  • D02 - What are some of the reasons why my messages may not be delivered to the intended recipient?

    • The mobile phone is switched off

    • The recipients SMS message Inbox is full

    • Poor network coverage

    • Mobile phone is roaming

    • Invalid mobile phone number


  • D03 - How many contacts can I send the same SMS message to?

    The SMS Broadcast platform allows you to send a SMS message to a database of up to 500,000 contacts in one submission when using the SMS Broadcast API or Web to SMS platform. 

  • D04 - Is there a limit to the number of messages I can send a day?

    A – No, there is not.


    There are no limits to how many messages you can send a day.


    For prepaid customers, you will need to have purchased enough SMS credit to match the number of SMS messages you want to send 


    For post-paid customers, you have unlimited number of SMS credits in your account. This means you are at liberty to send as many messages as you wish. You will then be billed at the end of the month for what you have used. 


    To discuss usage and payment options, please speak to your dedicated SMS Broadcast Account & Customer Success Manager or write to SMS Accounts Management team.


  • D05 - Is there a daily or monthly minimum quota for sending SMS?

    No there is not. 


    You can send as many SMS messages as your available credit balance will allow.


  • D06 - Is it possible to have a personalised Sender ID and is it available?

    Yes, you can.


    It is possible to have a personalised Sender ID.


  • D07 - Can I personalise the SMS messages I want to send?

    Yes, you can. 


    By adding the recipient’s first name, surname or mobile number, and other additional personalised content, you can personalise every SMS message you send to recipients.


  • D08 - Can I send multiple SMS messages with different content for each SMS message?

    Yes, you can. 


    Contact our SMS Support team if you need help completing this process.


  • D10 – Can I schedule my SMS messages?

    Yes, you can. 


    To schedule your SMS messages to be sent at a later date and time for up to one year.


  • D11 – Can I cancel my scheduled messages?

    Yes, you can.


    To cancel your scheduled SMS messages by logging in to the SMS Broadcast web portal. Click on “Scheduled messages” to see all your upcoming SMS scheduled messages. Click on the message you want to delete an click on “Delete”.


Receiving SMS Messages

  • E01 – Can customers reply to SMS messages I send?

    Yes, they can. 


    Each sent message is allocated a unique identifying number. Should your customers wish to respond to the SMS you sent, this unique number will ensure that the customer's response is routed directly to your SMS Broadcast Inbox.


  • E02 – Will I pay for incoming replies to my outgoing SMS messages?

    A – No, you will not. 


    Anyone that replies to your SMS messages will pay for the cost of the reply SMS.


  • E03 – Can SMS responses to be forwarded to my email?

    A – Yes, you can. 


    You can achieve this you can send a daily mail of all responses back to the registered email on the account.


  • E04 – Can SMS responses be forwarded to a URL?

    A – Yes, you can.

Reporting

  • F01 – Do I get delivery reports?

    Yes, you do. 


    To see all delivery reports and the status of all SMS deliveries made within the last 24hrs, go to ‘Reports’ on the left menu pane and click on ‘Todays stats’.  


    To see all deliveries made over a period, go to ‘Reports’ on the left menu pane and click on ‘Periodic’. Chose the delivery report period by select the ‘From’ date and the ‘To’ date from the date fields provided.


  • F02 – Can I download and/or print my delivery reports?

    Yes, you can. 


    Whether you are looking to download and or/print a report for deliveries within the last 24hrs or within a period, there are 4 file formats to choose  


    To see all deliveries made over a period, go to ‘Reports’ on the left menu pane and click on ‘Periodic’. Chose the delivery report period by select the ‘From’ date and the ‘To’ date from the date fields provided.

  • F03 – Will there be instances where I may not receive a delivery status report?

    A – Yes, this can sometimes happen. 


    There are a number of reasons why this can sometimes happen, including the following:


    • Status reports can sometimes be delayed
    • The particular network does not support status reports
    • The mobile phone is switched off
    • The recipients SMS message Inbox is full
    • Poor network coverage
    • Mobile phone is roaming
    • Invalid mobile phone number

Data Privacy Management

  • G01 – How safe are my client contact lists?

    SMS Broadcast is not allowed to disclose the contacts or client list saved to the SMS Broadcast platform. Therefore, SMS Broadcast commits to not intercept, monitor, copy or disclose any User messages or personal information.

  • G02 – How secure are my SMS messages?

    Messages transmitted via the SMS Broadcast platform are transmitted via SMSC network element that stores, forwards, converts and delivers short messages securely.
